A National Vegetation Classification (NVC) survey (sometimes called a Phase II Survey) is a nationally recommended standard methodology used in ecological assessments and provides a standardised way of describing habitat types in terms of their location, extent and distribution. NVC surveys are used for a range of projects from conservation projects on protected sites to proposed developments.

A requirement for an NVC survey within a proposed development is usually highlighted in a Phase I Habitat Survey and can be used in conjunction with other data to give the basis for determining the conservation status of habitats on site.

OpenSpace have specialist botanical experts who can carry out NVC surveys. If you require an NVC survey, then call us on 01228 711841 or email enquiries@openspacegb.com.
