Heathland

The UK includes around 95,000 ha of lowland heathland. These areas consist of a range of conditions, from dense heather and lichen heath to acid grassland, which supports a rich variety of wildlife. Current threats include lack of management leading to invasion of bracken and scrub and fragmentation due to agriculture, forestry and development etc.

Whether you would like to plant heather from seed, or gain help managing or planning a Heathland, OpenSpace Cumbria Limited can call on many years of experience to assist in any Heathland project.

We have native Heather seed in our nursery, and an expert team who can advise on all Heather related issues and projects. If you have any queries related to Heather, or a Heathland project coming up, then call OpenSpace on 01228 711841 or email enquiries@openspacegb.com.
